1860s Silver Rhode Island "Band of Hope" Pinback Badge — Civil War

Description

This 1860s silver Rhode Island badge’s design was based on the state seal. It is in the shape of a shield, with stars and stripes, and anchor, and a banner across its face reading, “BAND OF HOPE.” Pinback soldered on reverse. General Ambrose Burnside, a Rhode Islander himself, chose a similar design for the official badge of the 9th Corps. Excellent condition all around. Measures about 1” x 1 1/4”.
