1864 Stonewall Jackson Medal: Auguste Caque
. Size 1 15/16" diameter. Nice condition and toning.
This medal has a  interesting history. There were about 1,000 commissioned during the Civil War for members of Jackson's Stonewall Brigade. They never were distributed as intended when shipped from France due to the blockade and ended up in a warehouse in Wilmington N.C. When discovered in 1894 they were sold for each as a fundraiser. There is quite a bit of information on the internet about these medals. This example appears to be a little double struck like the one in the New York Historical Society Museum collection:
