Antique 1930's Composition Two Face Baby Doll 17" Intaglio Eyes Antique Gown

I'm offering today a precious two face composition baby doll from the 1930's era.  Her faces and hands are composition and her body has been remodeled with new muslin and firmly packed fiber poly fill.  The old body was so nasty and dirty, that I needed to create a replica so she would last for many more years to come.
I will start at the top of her head and work my way down so as not to omit anything in my description.  Starting at the top of her head, she has molded hair which is painted to represent blonde hair.  There are a couple tiny craze lines which I did nothing to for fear of harming the integrity of the doll.
She has beautiful hand painted intaglio eyes which are sky blue in color.  Oh so sweet and precious!
She has a dainty little nose with open nostrils for realism which flows down to her watermelon shape lips. Her lips are painted dark red which appear to be open, but they are actually accented to look open.   Her chubby baby cheeks have adorable dimples on both sides of the faces.  I didn't find a name on this doll, so not sure he's she's made by.  The display the two faces on the doll just turn to get the happy face and turn around to get the crying face.  Have you ever run across a baby in an infant seat at the grocery store and look at it and think to yourself, "that is the ugliest baby I've ever seen in my life?", but when you look again, she is so ugly that's she's cute.  This reminds me of those babies that only a mother can love.
This is perfect size doll measuring approximately 17" tall.
Her heads are connected to one another and have a seam that runs down the sides of the neck.  There are craze lines there, but nothing too concerning.  Her arms attached to a firmly stuffed muslin body.  Therefore, you can pose her either standing or sitting.  As I mentioned above, this doll was made in the 1930's and is not going to be perfect.  It is my opinion, she is quite lovely for her age.
As most of you who follow me know, I pick their outfits based upon the way their faces look and what they speak to my heart.  With these two precious faces, I knew she needed to be in a gown from the same era as the doll.  I chose this antique white cotton baby gown which goes down to her ankles.  The bodice is high waist with long sleeves.  The sleeves come down to the top of her wrists and are trimmed with white eyelet lace.  As you go around to the back side of the gown, there are two original white pearl buttons for keeping the gown in place.  On the back side, I left one button undone so it would have a peter pan collar look to it.  The front side is a high collar, so you get two looks from each side.  The skirt of the gown is gathered tightly which allows for lots of fullness.  Under the full skirt of her antique gown, she is wearing vintage white slip with delicate white lace trimming the bottom.  Under the slip, she is wearing cotton bloomers with delicate lace trimming each leg of the bloomers.  The bloomers come down to about the middle of her knees.
She is wearing custom made white crocheted booties which I had made for her.  She is wearing beautiful designer socks with white silk flowers embellished with crystals and pink satin rosebuds.  These are very expensive socks and I thought she would look so pretty in them.
My dolls are not played with by children who come and visit; I know that sounds mean, but sometimes they play too rough.  My dolls are kept in a doll room specifically for them and are displayed for everyone to enjoy.  All my dolls are truly loved and cared for as though they were my children.  Their clothes are either original to the doll, made by me, or I've tried finding doll clothing from the same era as the doll or find clothing which match the personality of the doll.  We do not smoke and I try very hard to keep a tidy clean home free of dust and odor.  My dolls are clean and most of the time look as though they did when they were sold new.   Depending on how old they are, I do try to be honest in detailing if some of the dolls have bruises, missing toes or fingers or other issues, but that doesn't mean they aren't worth having; for each one is like children.....they are all beautiful in their mothers eyes.  If I've missed something it would never be intentional.

CONDITION:
She is a true antique baby doll, but I would say overall is in good condition.  As with all of these antique composition dolls or bodies, they are not going to be perfect.   As I mentioned above, there is normal crazing and some paint loss, but nothing serious.  The horrible dirty body was remade out of new muslin and stuffed firmly with fiber poly fill.  There are a few craze lines on the top of her molded head.  Her eyes are meticulously hand painted and look oh so cute!   The antique gown is from the same era as the doll, but has been laundered and ironed for this listing.  I would say it is from the 1930's as well.  I rubbed the doll down with alcohol for sanitizing prior to dressing her.  We are an older couple and are Covid free.  We have been home bound since March 2020 and remain away from others.  The photos really tell the story about this doll.  She is a beautiful doll and one of a kind.  Please view complete set of photos for thorough description.  I hope you can take a few minutes to look at my other dolls.  God bless you.  Connie
