Authentic GAR Gold Star Lapel Pin Circa 1860s
Pin has red, white and blue enameling and reads “Ladies of G.A.R. 1861 – 1866”. Each point of the star bears an image representing a branch of the military; crossed sabers for the Cavalry, crossed muskets for the Marines, crossed canons for Artillery, an anchor for the Navy and a bugle for the Infantry. The pin measures right at 0.5" across the star points. The back is not marked.
*The Gold Star represents a family member killed in the war.
