Are you using stock cast heads or after market aluminum?
What rocker system are you using?
What valve cover are you using, stock or aftermarket? Tin or aluminum?
Some information about installing our valve cover spacers.
IF you are using a aftermarket aluminum head with a good machined valve cover surface many people (including myself ) just silicone the spacer to the head .
IF you are using a cast aluminum valve cover & it is good, flat & straight in the gasket surface then just use Silicone (form-a-gasket) between the spacer &valve cover.
IF your Head is as cast and rough we recommend using a gasket between the spacer and the head.

F you are using a tin valve cover (once again MUST be flat) I recommend a gasket between spacer & valve cover.
MOST IMPORANT everything MUST be clean & MUST use a good quality gasket.
The BEST silicone I have found is Ford Motorcraft RTV for use on 7.3 Power Stroke Diesel Engines. Motorcraft Part number (TA31). You can get it at your local Ford Dealer.
