sleeping eyes
....
♥ Stunning and very hard to find, 29" long, circa 1920s, fine quality,
early
composition, full bust, shoulderhead,
boudoir
or
bed doll
having a
long composition shoulderplate
with lovely molded breasts and original long, pink cloth torso,
slender cloth upper arms
with composition lower arms and hands and long shapely,
cloth legs
. Produced by the prolific,
*Anita Novelty Company of New York
, she has extremely pretty molded and painted features including long slender nose, lovely complexion and blush, pretty shaped mouth, mauve eyeshadow, arched eyebrows and evenly colored complexion (small repainted cheek nick). She has her original, long platinum blonde, mohair wig with thick shoulder curls (back of her head was probably covered by a large hat and needs additional hair or bonnet to cover as
usually these dolls had very sparse wigs under their hats
). She wears her original fitted, pale yellow organdy gown with
very wide skirt and petticoat, organdy ruffles,
blue ribbon trim at the waist, matching blue silk stockings with back seams (holes in stockings need to be mended) fabulous, blue lace printed, high heel shoes with buckles and blue ribbon ties. See similar dolls in "
Dolls of the Art Deco Era"-Oroyan.
She is in very good condition needing a few more eyelashes, no damages or flakes, (old repair to nick in cheek) no fading, tear in one sleeve could use mending and no repairs and no odors as she is from a smoke free home. These
Art Deco
dolls were often used to decorate a bed or boudoir chair and were "
quite the rage
" during the 30s and 40s. Most were discarded long ago. She is a
very rare and desirable example
.
