Vintage BRASS ELEPHANT FIGURINE, Calliope Capers ‘68, 5.5x4.5 inches.
A simply stylized Indian elephant figurine of brass that appears to be made of two fused halves, with a very solid feel, and heavy.
The top has been engraved with the words “Calliope Capers ‘68”, the only timely reference to this I could find being the song Calliope Capers by Jaunita Beck, released in 1962. This album is “circus music”. Perhaps this was a circus souvenir, or possibly some industry acknowledgement or award?
At any rate, the engraving is not at all prominent (see pics) and the elephant is very neat. Would make a lovely accent piece for your home decor or a rare addition to your pachyderm collection.

NOTE: This brass has had much tarnish cleaned and is partially polished, but I left a bit of “age patina”. It could easily be brought to a greater luster if desired.
